To Anne … LoveUbecause … you are my Valentine

To Anne … LoveUbecause … you are my Valentine

So I must say, I have resisted a little, writing anything for Valentine’s Day, not because I don’t think it is a great idea to have a day set aside to celebrate the love we have and share with that someone special, but rather because I hoped that LoveUbecause would be a place where we could do that every day of the year.

But the truth is, I would be remiss to ignore the occasion, never mind  undoubtedly put a little arrow in the heart of the one I truly love, were I not to comment  - and that would definitely not be in the spirit of things. So here I sit late on Valentine’s Eve,  tap, tap typing to the rhythm of what has made my relationship with “my beloved” thrive for some thirty years now.

Thirty years! Gone seemingly in a heart beat, fleeting moments, cherished memories, romantic dinners, little children, moonlight strolls, special holidays - come and gone like tomorrow was already yesterday, with an ease to be appreciated, and with a humility that only the relentless march of time can offer. It has been an enviable adventure!

Not that life has not had it share of ups and downs - most of which, I wouldn’t wanted to have missed -  for the good, the not so good, and always for the experience to live and learn. Yes, life has issued its share of bumps and bruises, but for the most part it would be dishonest not to say many were  of my own making – pushing some limits that perhaps had better been coddled, figuratively, and occasionally literally, sticking my chin out when there was a fist, or foot in flight and daring to try to live my dreams, when the unacquainted had  little resolve to make them happen, or more kindly, perhaps just flooded with  too many other dreamers  with which to contend,  and thus helpless to see them all through – but then that is the lot of the artist, writer and musician – success, vainly measured on an immeasurable stick of life, where really you must be content to have painted, sung, written and played, as the satisfaction of the performance and the appreciation of any audience is the true measure of the worth!

So my  Valentine, “how do I love thee? Let me count the ways …”, yes I could offer a verse, but I think you already know.  It would be for our children you have borne, the joy that we have lived, the hand to hold, the shoulder on which to lean and the anticipation of many more  years, love and memories to come!

But wait - tap, tap, tap – it is that rhythm again  -  the sometimes awkward  clack, click and rattle of me “marching to the beat of my own drummer”, as they say - you give the gift that many do not know - that many do not comprehend – you give me the gift of allowing me to be me – you never said “oh, maybe he will change - hopefully he will change “. You love me for who I am, and love me for travelling my own road - bumps and all - and I love you for that, more than I can ever hope to say. And as a writer, artist, your husband and more importantly, a human being what more could I ever really ask for?

Loving you always … your Valentine,

“A” the “O” in LVE!

P.S. to my friends, family and visitors, please leave a message for one of those you love … and …

  Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Write On The Wall!

Welcome to “the Wall”! If you are not quite sure what  LoveUbecause.com, the blog or this page is all about, I encourage you to visit the About LoveUbecause.com page to find the best explanation, but essentially we are providing a platform for you to declare to your friends, loved ones and indeed the world, just what it is you love.

As explained on the “About” page

“If you want to tell us about your mother, father, wife, friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, sister or brother, or maybe the neighbour down the road who unexpectedly shovelled your lane way after the last winter storm, great!  Write about how you feel about a soldier in Iraq - and you don’t even have to know him -  thank anyone you think did a special job, or went out of their way to help you. But if you love chocolate, your ‘69  Ford Mustang, new Nikon camera, pet chihuahua, gecko, or llama, this is the place to tell the world! “Write it on the Wall”! - and most fun of all, read what others have to say about those special things and people that add positively to their lives!

Yes, this is a blog and you are going to be able to read posts and articles from me on a variety of topics as they relate to LoveUbecause.com. But  not only will I be writing about things that come to me as I go about my every day life, I will also be looking for inspiration for posts and new categories from what I find from comments that you and other visitors “Write on the Wall!”

So how did it come about? Well maybe a positive off shoot of the current economic crisis, because with all the doom and gloom filling the ether and air waves these days I couldn’t help but think it was time to push back with some positive energy - collect it in one place and give everyone  a chance to show someone what they care about. Best of all, love is free, so why not give as much of it away as possible? All it takes is a little thought and a few moments of your time. And it is easy to spread the word too! If you like something you read, just posted a comment about something, or someone that you want to share, simply click the “Share This” link and you will be provided with the option to post the link to the page, post or comment to your favorite social network, or email it to a friend! “

Before you start, we would like you to take quick look at “Rules of Love” page, as we want to keep the content on the site as positive as possible. Not that we don’t want to hear comments and stories that tug at our heart strings, or deal with  adversity, or conflict. In fact we encourage it, but we also want to know how the thoughtful, or loving actions of another person, or group of people shed a little light into that dark corner of your life and helped make your day, or whole life for that matter, a little brighter and easier to cope with. And of course, if you just have something uplifting and cheery to say – all the better!  But other than that, take this as the green light to start adding your thoughts and comments to “the Wall”.  Let’s make this one of the best places on the Net to surf for a smile, some encouragement for those who feel a bit down and some truly heartfelt sentiment about the people and things we love!

Signed with  love, respect and compassion,
